ca. 1895 Howe-Orme Style 5 Top Of The Line Guitar
Here is a museum piece that is the pride of my Howe-Orme collection and a hoss.
This is the only one of these that I have run across or heard of.
The Howe-Orme mandolins show up once in awhile but the guitars, hardly ever.
This one with it's gorgeous Brazilian rosewood back and sides and ornate appointments, well, only now.
The workmanship and materials on these Howe Orme instruments compares to that on the finest Martins.
The spruce top is crack free and sports the cylinder top design.
The whole instrument is crack free and the original finish is in stunning condition.
The unique adjustable neck attachment system allows for an elevated fingerboard and elminates the need for neck resets.
This thing is over a century old and it rocks!
Big bold sound with the almost (13 15/16") 14" lower bout. Nut width is 1 3/4".
Bound top and back and fingerboard which is adorned with beautiful inlays.
And the headstock is also graced with engraved inlays. Original tuning pegs .
The label is in fine shape. serial number #2578.
